LDE UTC was proud to take part in DigiGov Expo’25, a major event hosted at the ExCeL exhibition centre in Newham, bringing together public sector leaders, educators, and technology experts to explore how digital innovation and AI are transforming local communities.
In partnership with Newham Data, the event showcased pioneering work across data, digital transformation, and public service innovation. The Newham Data team, positioned in the Government Village, welcomed hundreds of delegates to learn how collaboration between councils, universities, and educators is creating smarter, fairer, and more connected services for residents.
A highlight of the event was the live demonstration of Domus, an AI-powered tool developed by the University of East London through the AI Centre for the Public Sector. The tool supports fairer and faster decision-making in temporary accommodation, showing how AI can deliver real social impact.
As part of the panel discussion “How data and AI can fuel inclusive growth, bridge the digital divide, and prepare young people for future careers,” James Culley, Chief Technology Officer at LDE UTC, and Benjamin Turauskas, Apprentice IT Technician, joined Darren Mackin (Director of Newham Data) and Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz OBE. Together, they explored how education and industry can collaborate to ensure young people gain the digital skills and confidence needed for the jobs of the future.

James spoke about how LDE UTC’s curriculum integrates technology and innovation into every aspect of learning, helping students see the connection between what they study and how it applies to real-world challenges. Benjamin shared his journey as an apprentice, offering an inspiring example of how practical experience and technical training can open doors in the growing digital sector.
Events like DigiGov Expo’25 highlight how partnerships between education, government, and industry can create genuine pathways for young people to succeed in the data-driven economy. For LDE UTC, this collaboration reinforces our commitment to developing the next generation of digital innovators and inclusive leaders.
We’re proud to be part of East London’s growing innovation community.
