Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)
The London Design and Engineering UTC takes a whole college approach to the inclusion of learners with a range of learning and medical needs. The College offers and delivers a broad and balanced curriculum for all learners by embedding Inclusive Quality First Teaching practice, across all year groups.
A child or young person is identified as SEND, if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for them.
A child of compulsory school age or a young person has a learning difficulty or disability if they:
- has a significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of others of the same age, or
- has a disability which prevents or hinders him/her from making use of facilities of a kind generally provided for others of the same age in mainstream schools or post-16 education.
The College's SEND Policy and SEND Information Report set out how SEN learners are supported at the UTC. These can be found on the Policies webpage: Click here.
The Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) at the LDE UTC is Ana Maria Grigore and she can be contacted by email at: [email protected]
