An LDE UTC learner has been featured in Schneider Electric’s T Level industry placement video series, celebrating the impact of employer-led learning and real-world industry experience.
The playlist brings together perspectives from learner, employer and education staff, offering a rounded insight into how industry placements support skills development, professional growth and meaningful employer engagement.
Yaqoub, who completed his industry placement with Schneider Electric, reflects on the value of working in a live technical environment as part of his T Level programme.
Speaking about his experience, Yaqoub said:
“It’s interesting having to problem solve, troubleshoot, make and fix things. My favourite part was going to site because I got real-world exposure to how a building runs behind the scenes.”
His placement provided hands-on experience in diagnosing issues, supporting site-based work and understanding how technical systems operate in real buildings. For many T Level learners, industry placements are where classroom knowledge connects directly to practice, strengthening both technical competence and professional confidence.
The video series also includes insight from Schneider Electric and LDE UTC Careers Lead, Janice Tricks, highlighting the collaborative approach needed to deliver successful industry placements and the long-term value they create for learners and employers alike.
Industry placements are a core part of the T Level programme, giving learners sustained exposure to real working environments while helping employers engage early with future talent and workforce development.
