Learners in Digital Media and Engineering at LDE UTC had the chance to put their design skills to the test during a 3D modelling brief in the VR Lab, supported by F1® Arcade’s Joshua Button and Chief Technology Officer and Teacher of Digital Media, James Culley.
The session gave learners a taste of how creativity, precision, and technical design come together in industry — with Joshua offering expert critique and insight from his experience working within the Formula 1-themed entertainment brand.
One highlight of the day came when Leia Pitrora, an aspiring motorsport engineer, demonstrated her 3D CAD work to the visiting professionals.
“Thank you to both you and Joshua Button for providing amazing opportunities such as this to put my skills to the test and enjoy myself overall!” said Leia.
“A big thank you to Joshua Button from F1® Arcade for supporting a very cool 3D modelling brief and providing critique to our learners,” added James Culley, reflecting on the collaboration.
Joshua, a former member of LDE UTC’s IT team, has since gone on to work with F1® Arcade, bringing his professional experience full circle by helping to inspire the next generation of designers and engineers.
Sessions like this exemplify LDE UTC’s employer-led approach — connecting classroom learning with real-world creativity and industry practice.
