Students from LDE UTC earned positive praise from some of London’s top business leaders in the Envision Community-Apprentice Pitching Challenge on Friday 14th December.
What better way for LDE to celebrate interfaith week than the addition of an ordained priest to our chaplaincy. Mother Vienna McCarthy became the third chaplain at LDE in a service conducted by the Bishop of Barking, Peter Hill. The service included readings from the Bible and the Koran and prayers for the work Mother Vienna will carry out at the school.
LDE students Zach and Nathaniel Fernandez can now call themselves award winning movie directors following the production of their latest blockbuster stop animation film.
This week we held our first staff / parent social event of the year at LDE. It was a huge success with over 120 parents attending the informal BBQ under the stars in our outside dining area.
A group of our year 12 students were treated to a behind the scenes tour of the award winning commercial and retail design agency, Harlequin Design last week.

Following the exciting news that one of our pupils has gained an apprenticeship with Rolls Royce this year, Year 13 student Ismail Khalil is also celebrating this week.
Dear Parent/ carer, On Friday 27th January 2017, LDE UTC will close at the earlier time of 3.10pm to all students, this will mean our weekly celebration assembly will not take place.
School will close to all staff and students at 3.30pm today (Monday 9th January 2017).

Stephen Timms MP and Gold Medal Winning Olympian Mark Hunter MBE Support London Design and Engineering UTC
On Wednesday 14th October Stephen Timms, MP for East Ham and Gold Medal Winning Olympian Mark Hunter MBE attended an event which showcased a brand new technical school opening in East Ham in 2015 called London Design and Engineering UTC.
A survey* published by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) last Thursday 2 October shows that 88% of businesses overwhelmingly feel that many young people are not adequately prepared for the workplace.
