Engineering Innovation: Employer Led Project with TVL Group

Our Year 13 Engineering learners embarked on an inspiring Employer Led Project (ELP) set by TVL Group, aligning with Units 10, 17, and 12 of their Engineering course. TVL Group, known for its expertise in vehicle security and accessories, especially within the commercial vehicle sector, provided a real-world context for this project.

The project challenged learners to design and manufacture a desk tidy featuring TVL branding. This project required the learners to design work tailored to TVL’s specific requirements, utilise Fusion Manufacturing for programming, and refine their skills in CAD, 3D printing, and CNC milling. This comprehensive task allowed learners to apply various skills from their curriculum, promoting both creativity and technical proficiency.

In the project's final stages, learners presented their innovative designs to Luke from TVL. Luke's feedback was instrumental, providing learners with professional insight into their design proposals and models, ensuring they understood the potential for further refinement and practical application. Not only did Luke take the time to offer detailed feedback, but he also took the time after the feedback session to engage in meanginful conversations with our learners about their career aspirations in the Engineering industry.

Curriculum Lead Engineering Mark reflected on the project's impact: "This Employer Led Project with TVL Group has been invaluable. It bridged the gap between classroom learning and the engineering industry, offering our learners a tangible experience of the design and manufacturing process. Seeing their ideas come to life with such direct industry relevance was incredibly rewarding."

Thanks to TVL Group for their collaboration on this project. Their engagement has not only enriched our curriculum but also provided our learners with a unique opportunity to explore their potential and make significant strides in their engineering journey.
