UEL Creative Industries Festival

Hosted by the School of Arts and Creative Industries at University of East London, our year 12 Digital Media Diploma learners were invited to take part in the Creative Industries Festival. Learners enjoyed a day filled with interactive workshops, industry talks, panel discussions, installations, performances, exhibitions – all offering invaluable career insights.

This festival seeks to connect, educate and inspire current and future creative people, by bringing together the best in the UK creative industry. Creative partners who took part in the event include Canva, ERIC app, British Council, Bow Arts, Rosetta Arts, Foundation for Future London, London Higher, creativeLDN, Cine Circle, Greater London Authority and Stratford Original.

Throughout the day, learners had the freedom to explore the festival, engaging in networking opportunities and meaningful conversation with leading employers. As well as this festival providing unparalleled career insights, our learners were also able to talk with university students and graduates who were showcasing digital 3D models and other creative projects they undertook on during their university course. These projects utilised industry standard software such as Unreal Engine, Unity and 3D studio max, all of which are taught on the digital media course.

“The digital projects that were showcased by UEL students and alumni gave our learners a great marker of what they can aspire towards during their studies at LDE. Over the next two years, we will be using many of the same programs, crafting our own digital models and working towards similar standards that they were able to see today at the Creative Industries Festival. I hope learners left today feeling inspired and will take that inspiration into the work they will do on the Digital Media course,” Alan, curriculum lead of the Digital Media faculty.

Learner Dominucil, who aspires to become a game designer, expressed how valuable he found the festival: “This event has been really impactful for me because I was able to meet and talk with employers from the industry I am trying to get into. My favourite part of the day was seeing the game design project from UEL students and talking to them about their work."

Thank you to our sponsors University of East London for inviting our learners down to such a vibrant and insightful event.
