Alumni Skye and Archie have both achieved level 6 apprenticeships with Hill Group. Skye will be working as a Level 6 Construction Site Manager Apprenticeship, while Archie will be a Level 6 Technical Coordinator Apprenticeship.
Hill Group are an award-winning 5-star housebuilder, creating a range of beautiful homes across London and the Southeast. Their apprenticeship programme targets residents local to their developments who are seeking work in the construction industry. This successful approach has resulted in more than a quarter of the company’s employees are now either graduates of our management trainee programme or currently gaining their qualifications through it.
Our year 13 careers programme is wholly delivered by leading employers to ensure that the information provided is current within industry. Companies our year 13s work with include Skanska, Mace, Mackie Myers, Ramboll, ASK apprenticeships, Thames Water and many more joining us for our careers fair and mock interview days.
Skye and Archie's willingness to seize these opportunities have resulted in amazing opportunities opening up for them. Archie shares: "I remember all the way back on GCSE results day, searching for an architectural college on my phone and seeing LDE pop up. I came here and hoped for the best and now I have finished college and I'm going onto do an apprenticeship in my desired sector. What I loved about the LDE is all the networking and career opportunities – even in our classrooms we study an industry focused curriculum which means I know the value of all the things I am learning in the classroom and the impact they have in industry."
Skye joined our college in year 9 and has been an integral part of shaping our community ever since. Having helped contribute to the success of countless events, been an integral member of the learner voice and completed work experience with Morgan Sindall and Maccreanor Lavington. Reflecting on what helped Skye to thrive during her time at the college she shares that "At LDE I was treated like an adult. I was given responsibility, respect and trust which helped me grow."
We are proud of Skye and Archie, they have been exceptional learners and we have no dout this will translate into their professional journeys.
