Business Learners Benefit from Examiner Expertise

We welcomed Pearson Examiner, Maxine Halford, for a masterclass on being able to know what the examiners are looking for in the exam and how to answer the questions.

Through this session, learners were equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to design, develop, and evaluate a marketing campaign in the exams.

In the exam that we looked at during the masterclass, learners are required to develop a marketing campaign. This exam is five hours over two days. Learners must plan their campaign making sure to include the objectives of the campaign as well as research and analysis. After completing their two-page plan on the first day, learners then have three hours on the second day to create their marketing campaign.

Maxine went into detail on key aspects to include in the marketing campaign, such as SWOT and PESTLE analysis, using the case studies provided as effective research and crafting a marketing message. As well as taking our learners through this step by step, our visitor also gave up time for our learners to ask any specific questions about the exam.

"Maxine was an incredible help to our learners. She shared valuable insights into this exam and offered our learners the opportunity to get inside the mind of examiner in order to show the best version of themselves in this exam," Sharian, teacher of Business.

"There were aspects of this exam that I wasn’t completely sure on before but speaking to an examiner about it has given me confidence in my preparation. It has also given me areas I know I need to improve on in order to get the best grade," Favour, year 12 learner.
