Year 12 maths learners were visited by Barclays Life Skills for an interactive online masterclass aimed to help learners to understand the skills and behaviours required for identified job roles.
During the session, learners identified and discussed the work-related skills and behaviours necessary in the world of work. They further developed this by applying these skills in the context of their desired job roles.
Learners then were tasked to audit their own skills and behaviours in relation to specific job roles, identify strengths and areas of development and consider ways in which identified work-based skills and behaviours could be developed.
Learners then researched and selected two different job roles within a chosen sector and produced a fact sheet for each role. The fact sheet explained the skills and behaviours required for each job role and suggest why these are necessary.
For the final task, learners had to produce a CV that matches the requirements of the two job roles they selected. Thanks to this step-by-step approach from Barclays Life Skills, learners were fully equipped with information specific to their desired job roles’ requirements to draft effective CV’s.
Thanks to this session, learners had the opportunity to further explore their career aspirations whilst making achievable steps to reach this goal.
