Our learners are privileged to welcome a range of different professionals and entrepreneurs from so many different walks of life but there’s something extra special about welcoming industry leaders who ply their trade in the local community.
Since the late 90s, Andy Adegnegan has been a part of the Roman Road Market, one of East London’s most renowned markets running for over 150 years, where he sells his special secret recipe of vegan Brazilian Donuts under the trading name Candi Donut Co. Andy came to visit our year 9 and 10 Business and Enterprise learners lend his expertise as an entrepreneur.
With our year 9s, Andy acted as judge for their PowerPoint presentations where they had to bitch an innovative business idea. Andy offered valuable feedback to our learners, leaning on his experience and expertise. Through having a business owner judge and give feedback to our learners, they were able to understand the key elements of a business pitch from someone who has extensive experience in this area.
With our year 10 learners, Andy shared the inspiring story of starting his business detailing his journey from boarding school in Nigeria, to studying business in university of Wales, to earning lucrative trading contracts for prestigious events like the 2012 London Olympics. Andy enlightened our learners on the skills and characteristics of the entrepreneur, how entrepreneurs identify gaps or needs in the market and what it takes to run a business.
This visited imparted knowledge and motivation to our learners. Andy is not only an inspiring entrepreneur, but a pillar in our local community and we were very grateful for his visit.
