We were excited to welcome Gwyneth to the college, an Outreach officer from Cambridge university, to deliver sessions to our year 12 learners about applying for university.
During our learning for life session, Gwyneth delivered a masterclass to all of year 12 on what it takes to be a successful university student. She shed light on a range of valuable information such as the teaching style of universities, considerations to make when choosing the subject of study and the advantage of engaging in super curricular activities to bolster personal statements or applications. Thanks to this talk, learners are now more well informed when making the decision what step to take after their time with us at LDE UTC.
Selected learners who have shown that they have the potential to get into Oxbridge also had the privilege of meeting with Gwyneth for a more intimate discussion on what it takes to get in and succeed at Oxford or Cambridge. Gwyneth discussed the unique demands and benefits of studying at Cambridge as well as detailing the steps that it takes to get into the prestigious institution. Perhaps most importantly, our visitor took time during and at the end of this talk to answer all the specific questions our learners had about university application and study.
Thanks to Gwyneth for her continued support of the college; these masterclasses helped in our efforts to ensure our learners horizons are continually broadening as they consider the best next steps for their education and future careers.
