Cyber Security and Smart Innovations

As a part of the year 9 projects carousel, our learners participated in an Employer Led Project alongside Morgan Stanley and Samsung, delving into online safety and innovative smart technologies.

Through this project, learners explored online safety and discussed primary safety concerns associated with online activities.

Learners also explored 'big data,' defining and examining the terms 'big data' and 'data analytics.' Learners investigated the various stakeholders who utilise big data, explored data collection methods and applications, and discussed the ethical implications of big data utilisation.

Learners gained insight to diverse methods of identifying cybersecurity vulnerabilities, including penetration testing, ethical hacking, network forensics, the use of commercial analysis tools, and the review of network and user policies.

After delving into the world of online safety, the project continued with leading employers from Morgan Stanley, where learners were divided into teams to craft presentations for innovative smart technology concepts. Through brainstorming and idea development, these teams conceptualised remarkable innovations, such as a ‘hacker tracker’ and a ‘smart pet bed’. They then had the opportunity to present their ideas to Morgan Stanley professionals, receiving valuable feedback. This experience provided a practical and exciting setting for learners to refine their innovation and presentation skills.

Building on the insights gained from Morgan Stanley, the learners concluded their project with a visit to Samsung KX. They were taking on a tour of the cutting-edge smart technologies developed by Samsung, designed to revolutionise home living. The tour encompassed a variety of technologies, from smart TVs to gaming setups and even smart fridge freezers, leaving our learners inspired to further develop their innovative ideas.

Thanks to Morgan Stanley and Samsung for supporting our learners through this exciting project and investing in the innovators of the future!
