LDE UTC year 11 learners were visited by Isa Mutlib, CEO of BAME Apprenticeship Alliance who delivered an insightful and interactive session on career opportunities and important skills to help them to increase their employability.
BAME Apprenticeship Alliance works with some of the biggest companies such as Google, Facebook and Coca-Cola, to support young people trying to get into their desired industry. They offer career advice and inspire young people all around the country to progress in the working world.
In the session, learners were encouraged to explore and discuss key skills that employers look for, such as teamwork, self-confidence and effective communication. They were challenged to get to know their own skillsets so they can better prepare themselves for the right career. A few brave learners even joined Isa on the stage to debate the benefits and setbacks of social media, the importance of time management and the value of verbal communication skills.
At the end of the session, learners had the opportunity to ask Isa some questions about his personal journey and what motivates him to travel across the country helping young people get into their desired career path.
Year 11 learner, King shared, ‘It was informative, and I learned about apprenticeships and different skills. It was also really interactive, so we all felt involved’.
In the new year, LDE UTC learners will have the opportunity to benefit from a one-to-one career advice interview with a level six trained professional to help guide them on their next steps.
