Learners take units which underpin mathematics and scientific principles that are the foundation of engineering. Learners will take a number of generic units such as Mathematics for Engineering, Science for Engineering, Materials Science, Business for Engineering, Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM), Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic and Pneumatic Control, Principles of Mechanical Engineering and Principles of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Units then become more specialised including Electrical and Electronic Design, Control and Robotics and Systems and Programming. Learners will be assessed through a combination of External exams and Internal Controlled Assessments.
Direct employment is an option. If learners wish to continue their studies further, Level 3 Engineering can lead to Level 4 and Level 5 Engineering through apprenticeships or university.
