The Extended Project Qualification is an ambitious course designed for Year 12 learners who want to complete an industry or STEAM related project of their own design and interest.
The course provides an opportunity for learners to extend their abilities beyond the skills and knowledge taught in A-Level and Level 3 curriculums, stand out and prepare for university or their future career. It can also be used to earn extra UCAS points.
The course provides skill training in diverse forms of research, project management, critical thinking, report writing and presentation of work (including to audiences). It also connects learners with industry representatives, specialist staff and the range of resources that are available at LDE UTC.
The Extended Project is relevant to all careers and progression pathways due to the wealth of skills gained including planning, organisation, effective research and monitoring of own progress. The qualification allows for students to tailor their project to a particular industry focus in order to gain relevant technical skills.
The EPQ can also prepare students for further education through the development of academic writing and research skills.
The opportunity within the EPQ programme is to choose a project and employer partner that matches your career goals therefore shaping skills and attributes to industry requirements.
