UTCs are making a big difference to students across England with 30 already open and a further 20 opening in the next two years. Students, staff and employers are working hard to create the schools of the future, today. This new technical education is academically and vocationally rewarding both for students and employers. Several UTCs have already been awarded “outstanding“ and “good” by Ofsted.
The concept of UTCs was created by Lord Baker and Lord Dearing with the aim of bridging the skills gap by linking Industry with education. The Baker Dearing Educational Trust (BDT) was founded to develop and promote the concept of University Technical Colleges. Click here to read more about the BDT.
